SAFA slammed over Banyana bonuses

The players' union, FUSA, has criticized the leadership at SAFA for failing to support the patriotic Banyana Banyana team regarding their bonuses.

The South Africa women's senior national team is currently in Morocco, where they will begin their defense of the TotalEnergies Women's AFCON.

SAFA owes the Banyana players outstanding match bonuses from two previous games.

"The recent boycott by Banyana Banyana players over unpaid bonuses is a stark reminder of SAFA's consistent failure to prioritize the welfare of its national teams," said FUSA Secretary Taelo Motloung in an interview with KickOff.

FUSA is demanding that the entire SAFA leadership step down and allow new minds to take over.

"This isn't an isolated incident; it's part of a troubling trend where promises are made but not kept.

"The question is, what steps are being taken to ensure transparency in financial dealings?

"We also demand transparency in financial reporting and fair treatment of national teams.

"The lack of accountability and transparency within SAFA is unacceptable. It's time for change. We demand fair treatment for our national teams."
