Khanyisa Mayo unfazed by Bafana Bafana pressure

The son of former South Africa international, Patrick Mayo, Cape Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo looks set to follow in his father's footsteps after being handed his maiden call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad.

The 23-year-old goal-getter is part of Hugo Broos' 23-man squad that will travel to North Africa this weekend ahead of next Thursday's 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco.

"It's an honour and a privilege for me to be part of the Bafana Bafana squad and to be recognised by the head coach," Mayo told the media earlier this week. "I'm looking forward to the game against Morocco next week, in Morocco.

"It's a really great experience for me to be here after the work I've been putting in this season. The guys have given me support and welcomed me into the camp.

"It's my first call-up and that's not easy but I've managed to adapt to all the things going on and to the pressure, any good footballer must be able to handle that pressure.

"We have a good mindset and spirits are up in the camp so we are prepared for the game against Morocco."
