Ghana and Chelsea defender Baba Rahman 'knew' Bafana Bafana would fail against Sudan

With South Africa losing 2-0 in Khartoum on Sunday, they failed to join Ghana in the 24-team AFCON set to be hosted in Cameroon next year and the 26-year-old tells FootballMadeInGhana the result didn't come as a shock.

"I had it in mind that it will be difficult for South Africa to win there," Rahman said after scoring in their 3-1 win over Sao Tome and Principe.

"I have been there and I saw how they played. If you go to Sudan or when we went there, the football wasn't attractive.

"They just want to win and so if you are not tough or have a bit of experience [at international level], then you get beaten easily. I knew it will be tough for South Africa to get a draw over there."

Charles Akonnor's side finished as Group C winners with 13 points, while Bafana finished third with 10 points from the six games played.
