Bafana Bafana's year-end FIFA World Ranking revealed for 2021

Bafana Bafana's year-end FIFA world ranking for 2021 has been revealed after a rollercoaster 12 months for the national team.

South Africa's global standing remains unchanged and Bafana Bafana will end 2021 as the 68th highest-ranked nation in the world after FIFA revealed their final World Ranking for the calendar year earlier this week.

The latest ranking follows a rollercoaster 12 months in which Hugo Broos' charges enjoyed a remarkable 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign, only to fall agonisingly short at the final hurdle in a controversial defeat to Ghana in November.

That proved to be Bafana's only defeat of a promising year, in which the national team won the 2021 COSAFA Cup and recorded a 76% win record, which included 10 victories and two draws in 13 matches across all fixtures.

South Africa's final placement puts them in 13th position on the African continent, where Senegal remain the highest-ranked nation, while Belgium retain their status as the foremost country in the world overall.
