Gomora chairman: Irvin Khoza must be proud

Gomora United chairman Joe Seanego has revealed why he remains confident they can secure promotion to the elite division after their success in the ABC Motsepe League play-offs.

The Alexandra-based club, along with The Bees FC from Mpumalanga and Midlands Wanderers FC from KwaZulu-Natal, has been promoted to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Seanego, who has been advocating for promotion since his days with Baberwa FC, believes Gomora can move up to the topflight after their first season in the second tier.

"I’m sure Dr. Irvin Khoza is very happy because finally a team from his township has made it into professional football after such a long time," reveals a delighted Seanego, speaking to KickOff.com.

"I can imagine how the supporters and the technical team feel - you can tell they are over the moon. The Gauteng ABC Motsepe League is tough.

"Many teams leave Gauteng to compete in other provinces just to reach the play-offs because the competition here is so high.

"Although I cannot say exactly how long it will take us to get to the PSL (topflight), we aim to achieve promotion after just one season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

"Without disrespecting the other teams, I would love to accomplish this in one year.

"It has been done before. Chippa United did it. Anything is possible as long as you work hard," he continues.
