South Africa's hopes of qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup were ended earlier this month after Bafana Bafana fell to a 1-0 defeat to Ghana in their final Group G qualifier.
The result has since been protested due to allegations of match manipulation against referee Maguette N'Diaye but Hugo Broos' side have nonetheless dropped two places in the latest World Ranking.
Bafana Bafana now occupy the 68th spot in the standings after being leapfrogged by DR Congo, who themselves are party to a complaint by Benin following the qualifiers, and European nation North Macedonia.
That means South Africa have also dropped to 13th on the African continent, where Senegal (20) remain the highest-ranked nation, while Belgium have retained their position as the world's leading country overall.
