However, despite coming away with the win on the night, Bafana Bafana were dominated in midfield by their East African opponents who boasted 63% and at least 13 more shooting opportunities.
As a result, question marks were raised of the Belgian tactician's decision to field reigning DStv Premiership Defender of the Season, Ngcobo, in the centre of the park as opposed a more naturally suited option.
"There was the problem, we gave them too much freedom in the midfield," Broos said, choosing instead to respond generally to a question on Ngcobo's performance.
"Those are all good players, my colleague has a fantastic midfield, all good players who can keep the ball, can give passes, great movement and technically very good.
"So, we tried, and we asked to put pressure on them but we couldn't do it. We didn't succeed for the whole game and that's why we suffered so much throughout the game."
