The U-17 player, who earned a senior international cap in a 1-1 friendly draw with Ivory Coast in October, was one of three Chipolopolo call-ups injured in the accident, along with defender Nyambe Mulenga and goalkeeper Satchmo Chakawa.
The players were making their way to Lusaka in a Zesco minibus to join Chipolopolo’s pre-2015 Africa Cup of Nations training camp, which started on Monday.
"Changwe Kalale sustained a spinal injury that has left him paralysed from the waist going downwards," Zesco United spokesperson Katebe Chengo said.
“He also sustained a right broken thigh and broken leg. His condition has been described as stable and is admitted to the University teaching Hospital [in Lusaka]."
Nyambe, who fractured his right leg, plays for Zesco while Choma Eagles' Chakawa ruptured his spleen and bladder.
