WATCH | Stellenbosch FC run riot over Nottingham Forest in Premier League Next Gen Cup

The Stellenbosch FC reserve team is currently in the United Kingdom after being invited to compete in the 2022 edition of the Premier League Next Generation Cup following their DStv Diski Challenge triumph last season.

Drawn alongside the academy teams of Premier League sides Nottingham Forest and Leicester City, and Indian Super League outfit Bengalaru City, Evangelos Vellios' side kicked off their campaign with an impressive victory over the former on Wednesday.

Captain Devin Titus, who is among four DDC stars who have been promoted to the Stellies first team, opened the scoring in the sixth minute of the encounter before doubling his tally in the 26th minute after Forest had equalised from Sam Collins.

Bafana Bafana international Antonio van Wyk, who recently starred at the COSAFA Cup, then grabbed the Winelands-based side's third on the day after starting and finishing a well-worked move at the half-hour mark.

The rout was then completed shortly after the break when substitute Roy-Keane Avontuur, playing against the former club of his namesake, Roy Keane, fired home to seal Stellenbosch's place in the final.

There, they will meet Leicester City on 30 July after the Foxes recorded a 6-3 win over Bengalaru City in the day's other semi-final, having at one stage held a six-goal lead over their Indian opponents.
