There has been widespread rumours in recent weeks that NFD club Platinum City Rovers has been sold to the owners of Limpopo-based club Turfloop FC.

"The Motsepe Foundation franchise of Platinum City Rovers remains the same and will compete in the league under the same name," Tyzer Tlou Temo, the chairman of Platinum City Rovers tells KickOff.

"There is nothing that we have sold with regards to this club playing in the NFD.

"It is only my younger brother who has shares at Turfloop's ABC Motsepe League team that they recently bought from the North-West province (Tigane Chelsea).

"Remember Turfloop is a team from where we come from.

"The NFD franchise is owned by me, and I remain the sole owner of this club.

"I have seen all the social media talk but, on our side, we are preparing for the new season and have even written to the PSL seeking approval for a new sponsor that we got.

"There is nothing like the team or shares having been sold and I can give you a guarantee about that as the chairman of the club.

"I have heard of a lot of clubs being sold by word of mouth and not money in the bank as per the agreement of the business transaction.

"We will be playing as Platinum City Rovers again this season," says Temo.

In recent weeks there has been reports of another NFD club Free State Stars being sold for R12 million.

The value of an NFD franchise has been a subject of intense debate with evaluations ranging from R10-R18 million.
