Foster is set to jet out of the country on Sunday evening to link up with Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco for a follow-up assessment ahead of a proposed transfer.
The 17-year-old initially went for a trial with the club’s reserve team in November last year, shortly after making his professional debut for The Buccaneers in the Absa Premiership.
As previously reported on snl24.com/kickoff, Foster will now return to The Monégasque ahead of their upcoming pre-season tour of China, where they will face rivals Paris Saint-Germain in a friendly showdown next Saturday.
After informing his Pirates teammates of his scheduled trip on Saturday, it is understood the Amajita frontman will remain with the side for the next 10 weeks, as he looks to get a lengthy feel of the culture and the club’s facilities.
FIFA’s international transfer regulations prohibit minors (Under-18) from being signed by professional clubs, and as such Foster, who turns 18 in September, will return to South Africa for his matric final exams in October, with his proposed permanent transfer then expected to be finalised in January.
The Bucs academy graduate managed one goal in nine league appearances totaling 160 minutes last season, while he bagged four goals in five appearances for the national Under-20 side.
