Dlamini has return to the development ranks at Usuthu following the club's appointment of McCarthy as head coach, with Siyabonga Nomvethe returning as his new number two.
'Cobra' managed to produce good players for the senior team before he was appointed caretaker coach and helped save the club from relegation.
But as much as Sikhakhane approves McCarthy's appointment, he believes moving Dlamini to development again make little sense.
"Benni McCarthy has done well in coaching and there's no doubt about his reputation and appointment, it's a good decision by the management," Sikhakhane tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"I believe Ayanda Dlamini should be his second assistant coach. He has done well for the club and management should have adopted what Sundowns and Chiefs have done to have two assistants."
Sikhakhane believes for Dlamini to grow he must be involved with the senior team and learn from McCarthy, because moving back to development now is a downgrade for him.
"He has proven to be a good coach, he saved the club and I think he should have stayed in the senior team and been allowed to learn from Benni McCarthy," he argues.
"He doesn't belong to development now, he has passed that period. Let him grow in the senior side."
