Nigeria defender Godfrey Oboabona wants to play in Europe above all else.

Sundowns fans could be excused for being excited recently as stories have emerged of their club showing interest in the man who marked Didier Drogba out of the game as Nigeria sent Ivory Coast home from the Afcon.

But sources close to the Nigeria national team confirm that despite the big centre back being linked with several South African clubs, he has always stated his desire is to play in Europe.

Oboabona is still contracted to Nigeria Premier League team Sunshine Stars and he is aware of interest coming from clubs in England and Turkey, which is why he is holding out for his European dream.

Before the recent transfer window closed in Europe, his club Stars had demanded for about 700,000 Euros from a Turkish club.

What makes Oboabona so marketable is that he is a versatile player, able to play at right back, centre back and defensive midfield.
