The Red Devils have been struggling in front of goal in the early stages of the new season, and with Javier Hernandez poised for a move to Germany, coach Louis van Gaal is eyeing a new striker ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline day.
The Dutch manager has seemingly found his man, with 19-year-old France striker Martial allowed to leave the French national team set-up in order to travel to Manchester to conclude the deal.
"Anthony Martial was presented Monday at 11:00 at the gathering of the France team at Clairefontaine,” a statement from the French FA read. “He requested from Didier Deschamps permission to travel to England to sign a contract with Manchester United.
"Given the exceptional circumstances, the coach has acceded to the request of the player.
"Anthony Martial left Clairefontaine Monday at 12:00. He will return on Tuesday morning."
The young forward netted nine goals in 35 appearances for Monaco last season, with 15 goals and eight assists in 69 appearances since his debut for the French club two years ago.
