SuperSport United succumbed to a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Orlando Pirates on Wednesday in a result that was shrouded in controversy following the awarding of two penalty decisions against Matsatsantsa.
While question marks on the standard of officiating in the PSL once again took centre stage, another topic of interest arose in respect of SuperSport United's squad and the absence of star midfielder Sipho Mbule's from the matchday selection.
After being the subject of interest from Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns during the January transfer window, the 23-year-old has only made one league appearance this year, coming as a late substitute in the 2-0 win over AmaZulu earlier this month.
Head coach Kaitaino Tembo was probed on Mbule's current position at the club amid the ongoing speculation surrounding his future, and once again reiterated that the Bafana Bafana international's absence was injury-related.
"He was in the team [as an unused substitute] when we played Platinum City Rovers [in the Nedbank Round of 16 last weekend] but today he couldn't be involved."
