Freese was rather suddenly replaced by former SuperSport United coach Gordon Igesund on Tuesday morning, following a run of poor results that saw the newly promoted side fall to within two points of the relegation zone.
However, Mnisi says the former Platinum Stars mentor is now likely to serve in the club’s development structures on the same salary.
“He [Freese] is definitely [staying with the club]. He is getting the same salary and everything as is. I think he’ll be [involved] in the development,” Mnisi tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“He’s got a family. We can’t let him leave. He’s got a family and that’s it. He’s still part of the whole team.”
Meanwhile, Mnisi adds that the decision to replace Freese with Igesund was solely taken by the board and the players are expected to continue their work with the new boss, despite not knowing of the coaching change until it was announced in the media this morning.
“Obviously, players are there to do their job and the players don’t hire the coaches; we hire the coach so they just have to go there and work, and that’s it,” he concludes.
