The Venezuelan striker is not part of today's TTM squad that will be facing TS Galaxy as he awaits his work permit, but is confident everything will be sorted out soon.
"When I finished my contract with Chiefs I also wanted to stay here [in South Africa] but it was for my family," Paez tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"You know I also wanted to come back, I had a good contract [offer] also in Venezuela. So my wife was pregnant. So we wanted to spend sometime in Venezuela. But in this moment you know I wanted to come back to South Africa."
Pressed further on what really led to him leaving Amakhosi, Paez says: "No, my contract expired and at that moment I was having problems of my... I got injured remember?
"I got some offers from clubs but they wanted me to go do some training. So I told them that I was not ready you know to start training because at that moment I was not ready because I was one or two centimetres of tear in the hip leg.
"So that's why I went to Venezuela and it was difficult you know to come back at that moment."
Paez says when TTM came knocking he could not let the opportunity to sign for a PSL club pass him by.
"No, I know if they are in PSL they must have something you know. Like many others as a new club when they start it might be difficult... I know it's not Chiefs, not a big club, but I know now they have good players," Paez says.
"The coach [Joel Masutha] tries to make the team play good football so it's good you know. We have to fight you know, I know it's not going to be an easy league for us. But if we play good football and fight in the games like in that second half against SuperSport, I think we can do well you know.
"I know I have two years' contract with the club but I want to restart in South Africa you know, to play, to score goals, as many as possible in helping the team, and that's a good opportunity for me hey.
"I'm still waiting for the TPO, the registration and the work permit, so I don't know when can we start to play."
