Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Jimmy Tau could finally make a return to competitive football after almost a year

The 32-year-old, who fractured his ankle in May last year against AmaZulu, played 73 minutes in a Reserve League match against Moroka Swallows on Monday. The two sides drew 1-1 at Eldorado Park Stadium.

Initially, Tau could have returned to action in September after recovering from the ankle injury, but then he suffered a setback when it was confirmed that there was a “complication with one of his toes”.

Tau’s contract expires at the end of the season and the two parties have agreed to shelve talks over a new contract to allow the defender to fully recuperate.
