With Pirates having not done well in the League in their last three matches, the hard-tackling former Moroka Swallows midfielder believes Vladimir Vermezovic's men will be buoyed by their MTN8 victory over Bidvest Wits at the weekend.
“It's going to be a tough game. Pirates have won at the weekend and I'm sure their confidence is up,” Mbekile tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“We will just go there and try to win the game. We agree they have not been doing well in the League, but it is only three games and we won once, lost once and drew once.
“But they won at the weekend and maybe they will come out firing on all cylinders and hopefully the game will be good for the supporters.”
The 27-year-old adds that he will need to continue working hard to win a place in the star-studded Downs team and is pleased with the opportunity he was given against his former team in their last match.
“It's been great since day one. The guys have treated me well, I'm enjoying myself in here," Mbekile adds.
“All I do is, I have to work hard here and the rest I will leave to the coach. I have been working hard and I got a chance against Swallows and I think I did well.
“I will continue working hard, hopefully I will be in the starting lineup against Pirates.”
