Pirates midfielder’s transfer fee quandary in exit pursuit

Congolese midfielder Karim Kimvuidi’s exit plan from Orlando Pirates is in motion.

Kimvuidi is pursuing a move from Pirates after two years of battling to establish himself as a regular at the club despite all the potential he showed while at Maritzburg United.

The 23-year-old is certain to drop down the pecking order in the new season considering all the midfield signings made by Pirates already in this transfer window.

So bad was his situation last season that he didn’t get any minutes in 37 matches and played 90 minutes just once.

This is why discussions have been opened with Pirates indicating their desire to listen to offers and negotiate.

The initial price tag placed on Kimvuidi has shot all the way to R7 million but will drop considering that none of the clubs interested will stretch their budget that far.

TP Mazembe have made enquiries.

Though the Congolese giants have made guarantees of regular game time they will not be a priority for the dreadlocked midfielder.

Algerian club JS Kabyile have also raised their hand but will be deterred by the asking price to proceed with a transfer.

Based on information reaching this website, the Algerians will not go above the R3,5 million mark.

Kimvuidi has also had enquiries from Belgium club Royal Chaleroi while his name was also rubbed on Spanish second tier league club Real Racing Club de Santander.

The European options will propel his desire to break into Congo's senior national team with next year's World Cup in mind with The Leopards in firm control in the qualifiers.

For now, Kimvuidi remains at Pirates but there will be further developments around him in the next couple of weeks.
