'He will need to perform immediately at Chiefs'

Kaizer Chiefs’ new midfield signing, Ethan Chislett, has received key words about what awaits at his new employers.

Though born in South Africa, Chislett has played just about all his career in the English lower leagues after moving there as a kid.

The 26-year-old is the son of Donovan Chislett – who played for Manning Rangers and Zulu Royals.

Chislett spent the past season playing fourth-tier league football (League Two) at Port Vale as the English club won promotion and prior to that was with Wimbledon AFC in both League One and League Two.

He played for Aldershot Town in the National League (fifth-tier league in England), while his other previous stints were with Metropolitan Police and Basingstoke Town in lower leagues and spent six months in Spain with CF Reddis.

"What I know is that League One is physical and tough considering the number of games they play there," notes former Newcastle United winger Nikodimos Papavasiliou, talking to KickOff.com.

Papavasiliou has been coaching in the Egyptian Premier League in recent years and so takes interest on the continent.

"You can find good players in those leagues (League One and League Two).

"But with this player (Chislett), he will need time to adapt to the football here in Africa.

"This will depend on his quality, but Kaizer Chiefs is a big club, and he will need to perform immediately.

"The question is can he handle the pressure?

"You need to be mentally tough at big clubs.

"I’m sure once he is past the stage of adapting, then he will enjoy.

"What I have noticed is that the game in South Africa is at a higher level having also watched Mamelodi Sundowns at the Club World Cup.

"I really liked them because they were playing and went there to play their way," says Papavasiliou.
