Pirates' concern over Mbokazi...

Ahead of their last match of what has been an eventful season, Orlando Pirates are sweating over the fitness of a key player who has stood tall since being handed his debut by Jose Riveiro.

Pirates face their last 90 minutes of the season as they square up against a Magesi FC side that knocked them out of the Carling Knockout but which they exacted revenge on after 1-0 win in the league.

The side, however, is looking the worse for wear in the defensive line with Olisa Ndah, Thabiso Sesane, and most recently Mbekezeli Mbokazi all out of action due to niggles.

Mbokazi is the latest, having had to be taken off due in the first half against AmaZulu FC over the weekend.

According to a club update issued on their website on Wednesday morning, the 19-year-old could still feature against the Limpopo-based outfit, but his readiness is doubted as it has only been days since his injury, which is understood to be not as serious as that of the abovementioned pair.

In terms of options, interim head coach Mandla Ncikazi could go with a combination of any of Innocent Maela, Nkosinathi Sibisi, and Tapelo Xoki in the heart of defence.

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos will also be hoping for Mbokazi's speedy recovery, having selected the former DStv Diski Challenge star for upcoming friendlies against Tanzania and Mozambique.
