Pirates loanee to come back in the reckoning for national team

Karim Kimvuidi’s move to Israel has reignited his hopes of earning national team caps with the AFCON finals on the horizon.

Kimvuidi has started one match and come on from the bench in another in the two appearances that he has made at Ashdod in Israeli’s Ligat ha’Al since moving on loan from Orlando Pirates.

That has provided early signals that his national team chase could turn into a reality with the AFCON finals the target.

DR Congo will be in Morocco at the end of the year for the continental competition from December 21, 2024, to January 18, 2026, with their group featuring Senegal, Benin, and Botswana.

The Leopards are also top of the standings in their World Cup qualification group.

This website has been told that Kimvuidi’s age (23) puts him in the bracket of players playing abroad, who are being tracked by Sebastien Desabre.

Two former PSL stars of Congolese descent have indicated that having previously been in the CHAN squad, Kimvuidi has a step up to make.

The two years that he spent at Pirates didn’t deliver on his desires.

So bad was his situation last season that he didn’t get any minutes in 37 matches and played 90 minutes just once.

His appearances count was 15 with the weight of 382 minutes.

In his first, it was understandably slow with his 22 appearances carrying the weight of 924 minutes as Bucs won the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup.

He played from start to finish once.
