An Al Ahly FC legend has made surprising comparisons between Pitso Mosimane and Jose Riveiro following the latter's departure from the club.
Riveiro was unfortunately dismissed by the Egyptian Premier League over the weekend after four league matches, with the club citing poor results.

The Spanish tactician joined the Red Devils in April after dumping South African powerhouse Orlando Pirates.
Riveiro went on to coach at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where his side failed to register a single win in three games. In the domestic league, he managed two draws, a win, and a loss.
On the other hand, Mosimane spent almost two years at Ahly, where he won two CAF Champions League titles and several major trophies.
Riveiro only won three MTN8 trophies and two Nedbank Cup titles in South Africa with the Sea Robbers.
However, Saleh believes that Mosimane, who won many league titles and one Champions League trophy with Mamelodi Sundowns, is at the same level as Riveiro.
"When Riveiro first arrived, I asked myself, 'I hope Al Ahly doesn’t sign a coach who works in Africa, because they’re all level 5 or 6. I hope we sign a level 2 or 3 coach who is worthy of Al Ahly’s name and the tournaments it participates in'." said Saleh per Besraha.
"(Like) Pitso Mosimane is level 5 or 6. After Jose, we haven't seen a decent coach. Mosimane was a bad choice and doesn't suit Al-Ahly. Koller didn't convince me, and Hossam El-Badry, Mohamed Youssef, and Abdel Aziz Abdel Shafy won titles just like Mosimane.

"Just as there was a change in Al-Ahly's technical staff, there must be a change in the football management. Someone must come who can bring together all these stars, motivate the group, raise ambitions, and set a balance so that everyone works in the best interest of the team.
"Jose Gomez is a suitable choice for Al-Ahly because he has experience in Egyptian football, but there is no one else like him in the entire global market."
