'I have fulfilled my duties' - Fan-favourite's letter to Pirates

Over a month since his departure was announced, a midfielder who endeared himself to The Ghost during his time at Orlando Pirates has bid a heart-rending farewell to the club.

The Soweto giants announced on social media platforms at the end of May that Miguel Timm would be leaving at the expiry of his contract in June.

It brought to an end a spell of three seasons for the mainstay, who had played a pivotal role in the side's MTN8 and Nedbank Cup victories under Jose Riveiro. Notably, he delivered a Man-of-the-Match performance in the final as Pirates won the MTN8 in 2022.

Bizarrely, he made just three appearances in 2024/25 as he fell lower down the pecking order in a congested midfield that had Thalente Mbatha, Goodman Mosele, Makhehlene Makhaula, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, and most recently, Simphiwe Selepe vying for a spot.

Nethelraess, the Durban-born star will undoubtedly hold a special place in the hearts of the Buccaneers faithful, who made it a point to ring out 'Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimmmmm" whenever he had possession of the ball.

Timm took to social media on Thursday to pen a message to the club and supporters.

"I'm writing this with a smile, reflecting on my past 3 years with the club," the 33-year-old wrote.

"Thank you to the chairman for allowing me to carry the burdens and hopes of millions of the Orlando Pirates family. Thank you to everyone I've crossed paths with during that time, creating time.

"Unforgettable memories and relationships with the technical team and my teammates - that I still share a special bond with today.

"I have fulfilled my duties, and what I was brought to the club to do, which was to contribute to bringing back silverware on a regular basis and seeing the happy people like never before! I tried to understand everyone and everything that is part of this big institution and embody what being a buccaneer is, as best as I could from the day I arrived to my very last day at the club.

"A special mention to the best supporters!!!! Thank you for allowing me to represent millions of you over the years; you will always have a special place in my heart.
ONCE, ALWAYS."

Timm is reported to be on the radar of Sekhukhune United, and such a would be following in the footsteps of former teammates Linda Mntambo and Thabang Monare.
