1,000 fans Orlando Pirates OR Tambo airport CAF Champions League

Pirates jetted out off the country last night and are expected to travel via Egypt, before catching a connecting flight to Tunisia on Thursday.

Speaking to snl24.com/kickoff after bidding goodbye to the Bucs travelling party at, the club’s self proclaimed ‘number-one supporter’, Philip Jwarha, said he is confident the Mighty Buccaneers will triumph in Tunisia.

“It was great see lot of Pirates supporters at the airport to give the team a special send off,” Jwarha says.

“We had to hold a big prayer to ask God to look after our players during the trip to Tunisia.

“This is no longer about Pirates but about South Africa. We trust that the boys will do us proud in Tunisia and come back home with the victory on Saturday.”

Pirates have left without their inspirational captain Lucky Lekgwathi, and Jawrha says he and his fellow fans feel it is “unfair”.

“We don’t know what might have led the captain to be left behind. But I think this is unfair treatment especially after he guided the club to become back-to-back Treble champions.

“He is not only a player but a great leader in the team.”
