Zondo was among the coaches who were part of the Ke Yona Talent Search scouting programme that has produced the likes of SuperSport United star Aubrey Modiba and Orlando Pirates defender Bongani Sam.
The former Golden Arrows coach says Nedbank's sponsorship money gave underprivileged youngsters a chance to dream again.
"It has been a shining light for unknown players. It has changed a lot of young lives. We've seen many represent Bafana Bafana and some are shining in the Absa Premiership and GladAfrica Championship."
The coach has urged others who are involved in local football to help unearth new talent by continuing were Nedbank left off.
"It's not good news but we must appreciate what the PSL did for the youth," he adds.
"Young people had something to dream about. We would see a huge number of them trying their luck. It must be really hard for them.
"As hard as it is, we have to accept and hope someone will come up with a similar project for the youth."
