The Urban Warriors won the match in Port Elizabeth 1-0, with Nathan Paulse scoring the only goal of the game in the second half.
Paulse was a constant thorn in the Chiefs defenders' side, and Komphela admits they did not deal with the threat that he brought.
“It’s clear that the game was played on ‘first ball, second ball’ with the influence of Nathan Paulse; to the extent that I felt we failed to deal with ‘route one’,” he said after the match.
“We needed to be more aggressive to the second ball and we didn’t do that. It was the same in attack as well. Anything that dropped from their defenders, we didn’t pick it up.
“We didn’t play our game, and I think Roger got it spot on by making it difficult for us to defend by bringing Nathan Paulse and [Tashrique] Losper as well, and also trying to eliminate and nullify our players.”
