Siphiwe Tshabalala defends Steve Komphela after Chiefs loss to Ajax in MTN8 Final

Tshabalala’s thoughts follow after Komphela's Amakhosi were outplayed and beaten 1-0 by Ajax Cape Town in Saturday's MTN8 Final in Port Elizabeth yesterday.

“I think it’s very unfair and unrealistic that the coach is judged by today’s defeat,” he told snl24.com/kickoff after the match.

“I believe the coach should be given a fair chance to prove himself.”

The Chiefs captain also added that the loss against the Urban Warriors is by no means the end of the world.

“I know there are always big expectations whenever we play in a final. It just wasn’t our day.

“You can be sure we will try and rectify matters when we get to another cup final. There is definitely life after this defeat.”

The Soweto giants will have a second bite of the cherry when they ‘host’ the Urban Warriors on Saturday in an Absa Premiership match at Cape Town Stadium.
