Shabba: Chiefs a work in progress under Komphela

Amakhosi have not had the best of starts to their 2015/16 campaign, notching up just two wins in their opening five fixtures.

The Glamour Boys most recently played to a 1-1 draw with Polokwane City in the League on Tuesday night.

‘Shabba’ concedes the results could be better, but says it is something they will definitely be working on as they look to pick up after the upcoming international break.

“Obviously the way we’ve started was not the way we planned, and we raised the bar last season so the expectations were high, but for now it’s a work-in-progress,” he says.

“We’ve started slow but we’re moving, and I believe we are headed into the right direction.

“We have not lost, which is a plus for us, and even if we’re winning games we are a team that wants to improve; we are a team that wants to play well [and] meet the challenges.”

Turning the focus towards their upcoming MTN8 semi-final second leg against Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday, the former Bafana Bafana captain says their away goal hands them “a slight advantage".

“Ja, I think it was very important that we scored away, so we have a slight advantage and if we keep a zero at the back then we are through to the Final.

“”But we still want to do well and we want to win the game. We want to work hard and we will do just that.”
