Chiefs are currently the only team yet to taste defeat in both the league and cup competition so far, with Mpumalanga Black Aces and Platinum Stars not featuring in the top-eight cup this season.
‘Yeye’ believes this comes as a continuation to their impressive run in the 2014/15 campaign, with defender Siyanda Xulu being the only new addition to Stuart Baxter’s side that went on an unbeaten run of 26 matches in all competitions.
“Like every season, the team changes players but, if you look at Chiefs, we don’t change that many players in the starting line-up or even bring in players that will force us to change our style of play,” says Letsholonyane.
"What has helped us this season is the core of the team that played last season, and the seasons before, is still here, and we try to bring the new guys to the level that we played before.”
With Steve Komphela forced to make three changes to his recent line-up in the 4-1 win over SuperSport United, the 33-year-old adds that the belief within each individual in the squad also helps when new players are drafted into the match-day XI.
“We have about 30 players [in the squad], and we believe in each and every player that is here, so we can go onto the field with any name at the back of the jersey and we will believe in that individual.
“For us it doesn’t matter who goes into the team, we know that on the day that person will give us the best possible performance. Together, we work as a team; we help each other and we lift each other.
“If we lose, we lose as a team. If we win… it’s a team thing,” he concludes.
