Oupa Manyisa welcomes routine Bidvest Wits clash

The Buccaneers will open their season with an Absa Premiership clash at home to Golden Arrows in midweek, before visiting The Clever Boys for the top eight quarter-finals next week Saturday evening.

Manyisa feels their meeting with Wits in their opening fixtures has become "like a formality" and targets a historic season in honour of the club's 80th birthday next year.

“Playing Bidvest Wits is like a formality for us because we have played Bidvest Wits for the past two seasons in the MTN8, so this is like a formality," Manyisa told the Pirates website.

"But what is key for us it to just go out there and do our job because this is our 80th anniversary season, therefore, we want to create history by winning trophies this season.”

The 28-year-old midfielder also downplays any added pressure on the team to collect silverware this season, after a dismall domestic showing in the last campaign.

“No we are not under pressure but the fact that we did not win any trophies last season is on the back of our minds," he added.

"And we want to remedy that scenario this season, both for the club and for our supporters."
