Nathan Paulse on cloud nine after MTN8 victory over Kaizer Chiefs

The veteran striker produced a man-of-the-match performance against the Glamour Boys as he won and netted the decisive penalty to down the defending champions and help Ajax win their first trophy in seven years.

“To be honest, I don’t think it has sunk in yet,” the 33-year-old tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“The only time it kind of sunk in was when they handed the cup over, but I don’t think we’ve got too carried away with the hype and everything else. We are just enjoying it and being humble about it.”

Ajax have now won five matches on the trot in all competitions as they sit top of the Absa Premiership standings, and Paulse hopes this cup victory is a sign of bright things to come.

“We want to make this a habit,” he says. “Everyone involved in the club has made their intentions clear that we want to be an ambitious team, so it’s about time we get things right. We see this as a building block for the future, and we want occasions like this to become a habit for Ajax.”
