Keagan Buchanan: Celtic matched Chiefs pound for pound

Buchanan had a glorious opportunity to put Celtic 1-0 up when he went clean through on goal after a neat one-two with Musa Nyatama, with only Itumeleng Khune to beat, but he put his shot wide of the left upright with the whole goal to aim at.

“We’re very disappointed we didn’t get to the Final, I think we matched Chiefs pound for pound from the first minute till the last minute,” a visibly gutted Buchanan said after the match.

“I think if I had taken my chance it would have been a different game, so I think the boys just have to lift our heads and remain positive.

“There’s still more cups to come and there’s the League now, and we’ve got a very good team, a good coach, we have a good setup so it’s very disappointing because we really wanted to be in the Final.

“But congratulations to Chiefs, they came and got the goal that they needed and they won so all credit to Chiefs.”

Buchanan is happy to be getting regular game-time again following a long spell out injured last season and feels he’s slowly getting back to his best.

“I’m grateful to the coach for giving me the opportunity after I got injured about a season back, he slowly but surely brought me back in again,” he added.

“I’m gaining back my confidence, just trying to do my best to help the team and if that means I can play more often and improve my game and get exposure for it, then I’m all for it. I’m just grateful for the opportunity.”
