Bukenya cites Chiefs’ history in cups as an element that will swing the pendulum in their favour at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday afternoon and hand them their 16th title in this particular competition.
“I think the game is going to be easy for us. We will win the game over the weekend because it is hard for Chiefs to lose in a final,” declares Bukenya without any sense of hesitation in his speech.
Chiefs have won 15 of the 20 finals they have played to date in the top-eight competition since 1972 and have always gone into any final as favourites along the years.
Such is the belief of the Ugandan that he is convinced the trophy should already be inscribed with the name of Kaizer Chiefs as 2015 champions.
“The guys are so sure about the win on Saturday because of the club’s history. We will take the cup on Saturday. It is rare for Kaizer Chiefs to lose in a final of a cup so we are confident and sure of the win on Saturday,” he proclaims.
“The mood in the camp is very good and like I told you, everyone is confident. We are so jolly and waiting for the final. We are ready to take the cup. I think their [Ajax Cape Town’s] work-rate is good and they have good players but they cannot outsmart us,” he says.

The 23-year-old insists that instead of feeling pressured to defend the trophy they won last year, they are actually confident.
“It gives us confidence because this thing has been happening for years and years. We are confident for the game on Saturday,” adds Bukenya while noting that he is hoping to get another chance to start despite regular anchorman Willard Katsande’s return.
Bukenya started this past weekend in the 4-1 League win over SuperSport United, filling in the role usually played by the Zimbabwean strongman and putting in a fine performance, spiced up by a goal.
“I am hopeful of playing because anything is possible in football as it depends on the coach’s decision,” he says.
