Kaizer Chiefs vs Bloemfontein Celtic MTN8 semi-final report

Chiefs coach Steve Komphela named an unchanged line-up as Siphelele Mthembu was again preferred as the man up front, while there was no place in the squad yet for new signing Edward Manqele following his arrival on Friday.

Celtic coach Clinton Larsen restored his preferred starting eleven and went with Lerato Lamola and Helder Pelembe again in attack, with Geofrey Massa coming on in the second half from the bench.

Phunya Sele Sele will be kicking themselves as Keagan Buchanan had a golden opportunity to put his side ahead after just 19 minutes when he played a one-two with Musa Nyatama to go clean through on goal with just Khune to beat, but he put his shot wide of the upright.

Patrick Tignyemb was in outstanding form in the Celtic goal, pulling off two sets of double saves to keep out attempts from Siboniso Gaxa, Siphelele Mthembu, George Maluleka and Tsepo Masilela.

But ultimately Celtic did not have enough to open up the Chiefs defence as Steve Komphela closed up shop in the final quarter.
