Kaizer Chiefs coach Komphela puts faith in strikers Macha, Manqele, Letlotlo, Parker, Katsavairo

Amakhosi lost their league opener 2-1 against Bidvest Wits before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City in the MTN8 quarter-finals on Friday.

Against Wits, Bernard Parker started upfront, with Edward Manqele and Emmanuel Letlotlo coming on as substitutes.

In Cape Town, Lewis Macha made his debut next to Parker, with Letlotlo and Manqele featuring off the bench again.

Komphela feels it’s too early to judge the output of his frontmen.

“We have [Mitchell] Katsavairo who still needs to get a chance,” Komphela tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“We have Macha. We only played two matches; one was against Bidvest Wits and one against Cape Town City. The [PSL] leading goalscorer right now [Tendai Ndoro] scored a hat-trick and others haven’t scored.

“Our strikers are doing well at training and one will hope that can translate to matches. But adaptation is not easy and there are lots of dynamics to an incoming person like the culture.

“But from a technical point of view, their finishing is tops, decision-making tops, movement tops, mental, tactical is good but it’s just a question of execution.”

Chiefs' next league match is at home to Platinum Stars on Wednesday, September 14.
