Itumeleng Khune bemoans Kaizer Chiefs' scoring struggles after MTN8 loss to Cape Town City

"We just can't score goals," Khune said after the 1-0 defeat at Cape Town City in the MTN8 quarter-finals on Friday.

“We work a lot on finishing at training, but when it comes to match situations we can’t get it right.”

Khune is naturally disappointed with Amakhosi's cup exit which followed a 2-1 reverse to Bidvest Wits in the opening round of the Absa Premiership season.

“It is very sad to be knocked out of a cup competition. A big team like Chiefs deserves better, above all the supporters, who show us so much love. We tried to throw everything at City, but it was not enough to get us the result we wanted.”

The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, however, is confident the Glamour Boys can get off the mark when they host Platinum Stars in the league on September 14.

“We remain positive. We are looking forward to the next game after the Fifa break. And, on behalf of the team, I want to ask the supporters to be patient. We will continue to work hard until we get it right.”
