Chiefs face Ajax Cape Town in the Final in Port Elizabeth on Saturday afternoon, coming off the back of some impressive results, including a 4-1 demolition of title rivals SuperSport United.
But Khumalo says that result is in the past and that the players must now focus on the clash against the Urban Warriors.
“The players at Chiefs know you are as good as your last game,” he says. “Normally teams struggle to achieve a win ahead of major matches. However, with coach Steve [Komphela] it is a different ball game.
“Our team’s mentality is different and we are tactically and mentally sound.”
However, Khumalo knows the task will be anything but easy against a red-hot Ajax team that are top of the log standings.
“Ajax are not an easy team to face. They have young players with pace. For most of their players playing in a final is a dream come true. It seems to be standard that our opponents bring their best when they play Chiefs.”
