Cape Town City keeper Shu-Aib Walters eyes MTN8 glory after victory over Kaizer Chiefs

City recently shocked the Soweto giants with a 1-0 scoreline, with Walters putting in a man-of-the-match performance at Cape Town Stadium.

The newly formed club next face Bidvest Wits in the first leg of the semi-finals at Bidvest Stadium on September 10.

Walters has never won a trophy in his PSL career, and naturally the 34-year-old would like this to change.

"That will be massive achievement for me and something that I have obviously wanted," Walters told snl24.com/kickoff.

"It is the main reason why I moved to Mpumalanga Black Aces at the beginning of last season. Obviously now we are one step closer and the guys can take a little bit of success and I'm sure they want it to continue."

Meanwhile, Walters said his motivation levels have been kept high since battling for the number one jersey at Mpumalanga Black Aces last term with Jackson Mabokgwane, who has since joined Orlando Pirates.

"I think at the start of last season it was about having good goalkeepers around you and now you have a good goalkeeper coach [in Calvin Marlin].

"And the coach is pushing me all the time and I think that has played a big part. Obviously this season it is the new team and you start becoming one of the older and more experienced players, so you need to lead by example... I think that has also been motivation to me."

City, who bought Aces' topflight status in the off-season, will visit Golden Arrows in their next league assignment on September 14.
