The Students tonight host Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 quarter-finals, having beaten title rivals Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in their league opener on Tuesday.
Amakhosi were knocked out of the cup by newly formed Cape Town City in the first last-eight tie on Friday.
"We have lacked depth in our squad over the past three years but this season we have the numbers and the quality," Hunt is quoted as saying on Wits' website.
"Saturday will definately be a test for the squad as a cup is different to the league," he added ahead of the 20h15 kick-off at Bidvest Stadium.
The Clever Boys previously won a trophy in 2010 when they landed the Nedbank Cup.
Hunt's men finished runners-up to Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns in 2015/16.
