Ajax's Granwald Scott recovering well; unfazed by Port Elizabeth MTN8 Final

The 2014/15 Ajax Player of the Year had enjoyed a stellar start to the new season, yet suffered a groin injury in his side’s 1-1 first leg MTN8 semi-final draw with Bidvest Wits last month.

The 27-year-old was forced to sit on the sidelines for Ajax’s next three matches, but is now back in training, with the Fifa international break allowing an extra week of recovery as he targets a return to the field soon.

“I’m feeling strong!” he tells snl24.com/kickoff. “The injury is coming along nicely. I trained today and all went well. I’ll have to see how I feel tomorrow, but I should be ok to be in the squad [next weekend].”

Scott will be hoping to be back to full fitness for his side’s MTN8 Final clash against Kaizer Chiefs later this month in Port Elizabeth – the same venue where Ajax lost last season’s Nedbank Cup Final to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The midfielder is however unfazed about today’s announcement of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium as the venue for the Final.

“I think Port Elizabeth is better than Johannesburg or Durban in terms of weather, so I don’t mind … but hopefully this time we’ll have tears of joy!” he says.

Ajax face off against Kaizer Chiefs in the Final on Saturday, 19 September.
