Ajax Cape Town winger Riyaad Norodien unafraid of MTN8 holders Kaizer Chiefs

The Glamour Boys booked their spot in the Cup final following a 2-1 aggregate win over Bloemfontein Celtic, while the Cape side edged Bidvest Wits by the same aggregate scoreline.

Amakhosi head into the encounter as favourites, yet Ajax’s speedster Norodien, who has impressed since making his debut late last season, feels the Soweto giants should be wary ahead of this afternoon’s clash.

“Chiefs are one of the biggest teams in the League,” the 20-year-old tells snl24.com/kickoff. “With that being said, when people say we might be scared of Chiefs, I think they are scared of us as well because they know how we play and how we got to the Finals.

“It wasn’t the best of games [in the semi-finals], but it was all about hard work, dedication and striving to win away from home, and at home in bad conditions.”

Norodien admits there are many star-studded names in the Chiefs squad, yet feels Ajax should focus more on themselves, rather than their opponents.

“Coming up against big players like [Bernard] Parker, [George] Lebese and [Itumeleng] Khune is more a mental thing – we shouldn’t think too much of them, but concentrate on our own game,” he says.

“At the end of the day, their names are what makes them, but our names make us also … in the end, it’s 11 v 11, so whoever brings their best game on the day will win.”
