Ajax Cape Town striker Nathan Paulse on downside of MTN8 triumph

Ajax won the MTN8 Cup in September last year, but then went nine games without a victory and suffered early exits in the Telkom Knockout, CAF Confederation Cup and Nedbank Cup.

The Urban Warriors currently find themselves ninth in the Absa Premiership standings, having collected seven points from a possible 15 from their last five matches.

"I think we've learnt what you have to do to achieve and as soon as you have achieved it we have to move on," Paulse tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"I think that's something we have struggled with as a team and we haven't learn on how to move on from the MTN8 win, and how to use that in the league."

The Athlone-born hitman, who scored the winning goal in the MTN8 final against Kaizer Chiefs in Port Elizabeth, feels some players have lacked self-discipline.

"Individually some players become complacent because the mind set wasn't where it should have been," he says.

"They are young boys and we have to learn in this game that the more success you have, the harder you have to work because you have to maintain that now.

"I wouldn't like to talk too much on what's bad and try to learn from that. It's important that us as a team and individuals we learn, instead of trying to make an excuse that we are still growing, and the team is young, and in three or four years the team will be better.

"I think we have to push each other as much as we can and move forward," concludes the 33-year-old, who is unsure if he will lead the line at Ikamva next season.
