Polokwane City 4-0 Pretoria Callies
Polokwane City secured promotion back to the DStv Premiership after a 4-0 win over Pretoria Callies on the final in the Motsepe Foundation Championship on Sunday.
Rise and Shine got in front early in the first half with a point-blank finish from Bulelani Nikani after Callies failed to clear their lines in their defensive compartment.
The home team secured a second goal around a few minutes when Puleng Marema made a late run in the area and comfortably executed a perfectly placed cutback.
Callies were under siege again and gave away a third as Francis Baloyi picked up a loose ball off the upright and finished on the rebound.
As halftime loomed, the Limpopo-based boys nabbed a fourth on the cusp of the interval with a snap finish in the area by Samuel Nana and ultimately helped Rise and Shine to promotion to the elite league.
Cape Town Spurs 1-1 University of Pretoria
Cape Town Spurs missed out on outright promotion to the top-flight following a late 1-1 draw against University of Pretoria.
Shaun Bartlett's men were very cagey in the opening half, though AmaTuks didn't pose too much of a threat either and therefore the half closed goalless.
The host, spurred by the home crowd, started to up the momentum following the break and as a certain Boitumelo Radiopane – chances appeared but there were still no breakthrough.
AmaTuks instead threw a spanner in the works in the closing quarter when Samuel Julies broke the deadlock with a deflected free-kick.
Bartlett's men rallied back before the end and levelled after Therlo Moosa slotted in from a corner, but there were no winner though finished the campaign in second and a Promotion Play-off spot.
All Stars FC 2-2 Casric Stars
Casric Stars were unable to get a win to ensure promotion and played to a 2-2 draw against All Stars FC in Tsakane.
Former Royal AM midfielder Menzi Ndwandwe dented the visitors' promotion hopes a while after kick-off with a smart finish off the head.
Ndwandwe haunted the travelling contingent again where he capitalised on more casual bit of defending and stabbed in to complete his brace.
However, Stars did have a lifeline just before the halftime period as a low angled shot from the edge of the area rolled through a cluster of bodies and nestled in the net.
Casric showed a lot of fight after the break and levelled through Lehlohonolo Mojela, but weren't able to grab the winner though had done enough to finish third and go into the Promotion Play-offs.
