Kadodia: I'm not sure how PSL will hand over this trophy

Amidst the promotion legal battle against champions Durban City, chairman Farouk Kadodia has let KickOff in on his feelings on the matter.

City were supposed to be crowned champions of the Motsepe Foundation Championship on Sunday, after their narrow win over Cape Town Spurs, who were relegated, saw them finish the season at the top by five points.

The PSL, however, had already warned through an official statement that the trophy handover for the National First Division would not take place, until a protest against The Team of Choice is heard.

Two weeks ago, JDR Stars, lodged a protest against City, allegedly for fielding an ineligible player, Saziso Magawana.

The issue relates to registration rules, after Magawana joined the Midlands outfit from Leruma United, who had bought the status of Marumo Gallants.

With the matter set to be before the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) on Tuesday, this website got in touch with Kadodia to hear his feelings.

"People are trying to protest for their own benefit, relegation or to get to the play-offs, I don't know. We will avail ourselves tomorrow when we're called upon and we're very confident," Kadodia told this website.

"The guys (players) are really upset, because like when any other team is crowned champions, you look for the glory and the trophy. Now I'm not sure how ever they will hand over this trophy.

"We can't do anything until we're declared champions. Now is the time the players should celebrate, look forward to their monies. Now it looks like you're frustrating players," Kadodia said.

With the MFC season completed, Kadodia also expressed frustration with no details on how the trophy presentation would be done, should they be cleared.

"One person is running the league, all we need is transparency you can't have protests without repercussion but anyway we'll prove it wrong in the DRC," Kadodia said.

"Be mindful, Dr. Patrice Motsepe has been a very influential person in our football. He's the sponsor of this league and is only befitting that his sponsorship is treated properly," the experienced City boss added.
