Amakhosi fan calls for better scouting

In this edition of Supporters Forum, a Kaizer Chiefs supporter has joined a growing list of the club supporters who wants the scouting department to find good local talent.

Like most Chiefs supporters, Limpopo-based Moshikaro Moagi is hurt by the club allowing their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates to sign all the country's top talent.

Moagi is the Chiefs supporter who vowed to walk from FNB Stadium to Tzaneen if they didn't beat Mamelodi Sundowns last season.

"As a dedicated supporter of Kaizer Chiefs, it pains me to witness the recent signings of Sipho Mbule and Oswin Appollis by our rivals, Orlando Pirates," Moagi tells KickOff.

"These are players we, as fans, have long admired and wished to see in our team colors. Their talent and potential could have made a significant impact on our squad, yet it feels like our beloved Kaizer Chiefs has lost its edge in scouting promising players.

"Every season, we hope for strategic signings that will elevate our team and bring us closer to glory. Instead, we find ourselves watching as the players we desire end up with our competitors, further intensifying our frustration.

"The news of Mbule and Appollis joining Orlando Pirates was particularly disheartening. Both players possess exceptional skills that could have transformed our team dynamics for the better.

"While it's true that Sipho Mbule has faced disciplinary issues, I firmly believe that Kaizer Chiefs could have offered him a second chance. Sometimes, a change of environment is all it takes for a player to find their footing and thrive. In my opinion, Mbule has the potential to elevate our team's performance, and it's disheartening to think that we have missed out on his contributions.

"As we look ahead to our encounters with Orlando Pirates, a sense of dread looms over me. The very players we wished to have on our side will now pose a significant threat against us. This situation raises concerns about the direction our team is taking in terms of recruitment. It's troubling to observe that many of our new signings are players from abroad, while we have a wealth of local talent that deserves recognition," he added.

"Kaizer Chiefs is a prestigious club with a massive following, and it's essential for our players to represent us on the national stage. Watching the national team compete without our homegrown talents feels like a missed opportunity. We have passionate supporters who want to see our players in Bafana Bafana jerseys, contributing to the success of our national football team.

"I genuinely hope that in the future, the club will consider involving supporters in the decision-making process when it comes to player acquisitions. We have a unique perspective and insight that could prove invaluable. The heart of Kaizer Chiefs lies with its supporters, and together, we can guide the club towards a brighter future.

"In conclusion, while the signing of players like Sipho Mbule and Oswin Appollis by rival teams is disheartening, it also serves as a wake-up call for Kaizer Chiefs. We need to rekindle our commitment to scouting talented local players who can represent us both at the club level and on the national stage. Let's work together to ensure that our beloved team regains its competitive edge and remains a force to be reckoned with in South African football."
