After Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso pleaded for credit for taking the club "to a higher level", KickOff assesses his league record vs that of Rulani Mokwena and Manqoba Mnnqithi at Chloorkop.
Sundowns are on the cusp of a record-extending eighth consecutive league title ahead of a clash against Chippa United on Wednesday, as a point would be enough for them to be crowned champions.

Cardoso feels, however, he is not getting the credit for guiding the side to another championship, with there being a narrative he took over from Mngqithi midway through and with the team already winning anyway.
"People are saying that I arrived in the middle of the season. No, I didn't arrive in the middle of the season, I arrived with only one-third of the season played," protests Cardoso, speaking to the press post a 3-0 win over Stellenbosch FC.
"So with all due respect to coach Manqoba and the work he did, that was important obviously. (But) I think that it's clear for everybody where we were and where we stand and where we finished.
"It's important that people recognise what we've been doing in this league, we took the team to a high level. The team is not only (playing) fantastically, but it's breaking record after record," he added.
Cardoso took over from Mngqithi with eight league matches played and has been in charge of 19 Betway Premiership games, winning 16.
With regards to the league only, the former Esperance mentor has a winning rate of 84%.
Mokwena, in fact, was named 2022/23 PSL Coach of the Season, though he was only made head coach with 10 league games played.

There is no arguing, however, that Cardoso took over from a team that had no issues with results, as Mngqithi was in charge of eight league games and won seven, which took his winning rate to 87,5%.
