Mamelodi Sundowns defender Thapelo Morena dreaming of Bafana Bafana call-up

SAFA are set to announce the South Africa team to face both Guinea Bissau and Angola in friendly matches at the end of the month.

Former Orlando Piraters coach Owen Da Gama has been tasked with selecting the squad while SAFA continue their search for a new head coach to replace Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba.

“I would love to be in the [Bafana] team. I am working very hard to be in the setup,” says Morena.

“I will be happy if I can see my name on the [team sheet],” he added.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder has played in both defence and attacking midfield since arriving at Chloorkop this season, although he says the right-back position as his favorite.

“It [playing right-back] create more spaces to go up and down. I can use my speed more effectively. That’s the reason I enjoy the opportunity of playing as right-back,” he added.

Morena, Lebohang Manyama and Percy Tau are some of the players expected to be in the Bafana Bafana squad.
