Neo Maema will head out to the CHAN finals with his immediate future shrouded in uncertainty with claims of his earnings at Mamelodi Sundowns having emerged.
Maema’s situation at Sundowns is tense with Miguel Cardoso having made a request to downsize his squad for the new season which the club has acted on.

Those already gone include Rivaldo Coetzee, Lebohang Maboe, Sanele Tshabalala, Kobamelo Kodisang, Thabang Sibanyoni, Sifiso Ngobeni, Lucas Suarez, and Sipho Mbule.
There are several exits still pending which include Abubeker Nasir, Thembinkosi Lorch, Terrence Mashego, Matias Esquivel, and Thapelo Maseko amongst several names.
Maema is of interest as he heads into his fifth season at Sundowns having had dwindling minutes in the last three years.
The 29-year-old will be at the CHAN finals as captain of the Bafana Bafana squad flooded with unattached players.
He has been linked with a loan move to Tanzanian giants Simba SC with reports claiming his gross package of R4 million per annum will be shared by both clubs.
There have been claims he will move after the CHAN finals.
On Tuesday, Maema chose not to comment on where he will play next insisting that his focus is on the CHAN finals.
"For me, I need to play football beyond CHAN but I’m focusing on the CHAN for now," he noted as Bafana intensified preparations for CHAN.

The eighth edition of the CHAN finals, catering only for players plying their trade in their domestic leagues, will be held from August 2-30 in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Bafana play Algeria on August 8 then Guinea three days later while the last two group matches will be against Niger on August 15 before the date against Uganda in front of their home fans on August 18.
All matches will be played at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.
